EVALUATION RESULTS FOR THE FPA PROFESSIONAL FOOD PHOTOGRAPHY AWARDS 2025

Evaluating the photographs submitted for the FPA Food Photography Awards 2025 has beenboth a privilege and a demanding responsibility. Each image was carefully reviewed multiple times, with close attention paid to the balance between technique, visual language,intention, and emotional impact.
The selection process focused on identifying photographs capable of going beyond aesthetic beauty, images that tell a story, convey a clear point of view, and create a lasting connection with the viewer. Light, composition, gesture, and authenticity played a central role in this
evaluation, as did that essential element of surprise that transforms a strong image into a memorable one.
Across both Non-Professional and Professional categories, the diversity of approaches and visual voices made the decision process particularly challenging and enriching. The awarded works stand out for their clarity of concept, sensitivity, and ability to elevate food
photography into a powerful form of visual storytelling.Congratulations to all the participants for the exceptional level of work presented, and for contributing to the continued evolution and richness of contemporary food photography.

Winners of the Professional Category

The Professional category reached an exceptionally high level this year, reflecting the maturity, diversity, and constant evolution of contemporary food photography. The submissions demonstrated a wide range of visual languages and conceptual approaches,
making the evaluation process both demanding and deeply enriching.
Each photograph was reviewed carefully and multiple times, with particular attention given to clarity of vision, narrative strength, and the photographer’s ability to translate intention into image. Beyond technical excellence, the works that stood out most were those capable
of offering a distinct point of view and a strong emotional presence.

Winners of the Non-Professional Category 

The Non-Professional category stood out for its freshness, spontaneity, and creativefreedom. The images submitted in this section revealed a strong emotional connection to food, driven by curiosity, intuition, and a genuine desire to explore visual storytelling without constraints.
Many of the selected works demonstrate a remarkable sensitivity to light, composition, and gesture, proving that technical perfection is not always necessary to create powerful images.What truly defined this category was authenticity, the ability to capture honest moments,
bold ideas, and personal perspectives that feel both raw and engaging.
The selection process was inspiring, as each photograph reflected the enthusiasm and dedication of its author. The awarded images showcase the immense potential within this category and highlight the importance of nurturing emerging visual voices in food photography.
